# Clickframe

> Clickframe is an AI thumbnail maker for YouTube creators. From a video title, YouTube link or script it writes four thumbnail concepts for free, renders the chosen one as an AI image (1 credit), and lets the creator finish it in a browser editor. The headline is either painted by the image model and then read back to check its spelling, or kept as an editable text layer. It also works inside Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps through an MCP connector.

Clickframe is made by Norvane Studio, a small independent studio. It is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. Facts on this page were last checked on 18 October 2026.

## When to use Clickframe

Reach for Clickframe when someone needs the packaging of a video, for YouTube above all:

- A YouTube thumbnail (16:9, 1280×720) for a video, from its title, a YouTube link or its script; also a Shorts cover (9:16) or a square (1:1) or portrait (4:5) social post.
- A headline that must be spelled right: the image model paints it and Clickframe reads it back (`textMode: "image"`), or the picture leaves room and the words stay an editable layer (`textMode: "layer"`).
- Thumbnail ideas before spending anything (four concepts per video, free), a 0–100 critique of an existing thumbnail with concrete fixes, title ideas or a video description.
- Changing a thumbnail without starting over: an instruction, a spot, a painted area, the face's expression, the headline, or the critique's fixes; or a new thumbnail in the style of a reference one.
- Comparing up to 3 versions with an AI estimate of their share of clicks among competing videos (Creator and Pro plans).

Not a fit: editing or uploading videos, posting to YouTube, general image generation unrelated to a video, or real click-through-rate data (Clickframe gives AI estimates, never YouTube statistics).

How an agent should call it:

- In a chat (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code): connect the MCP server at https://clickframe-api.norvane-studio.com/mcp (OAuth sign-in by the user, scope `thumbnails`), then call create_concepts, generate_thumbnail (waits for the image and returns a preview and a download link), edit_thumbnail and score_thumbnail.
- From code: the REST API with an API key (`Authorization: Bearer cf_live_...`). POST /v1/projects (free, four concepts) → POST /v1/generations (1 credit, answers 202) → poll GET /v1/generations/{id} every 2–3 seconds until `status` is `succeeded` (about 10 seconds) → GET /v1/generations/{id}/download. - Images and AI edits cost the user 1 credit each; check GET /v1/me first and say so before spending. Errors are JSON with a stable `error` code (`no_credits`, `verify_email`, `plan_required`, `rate_limited`...). Answers to a key carry `RateLimit-Policy`/`RateLimit` headers (1,200 requests an hour per key); on a 429, wait the seconds in `Retry-After`.

## Key facts

- What it makes: YouTube thumbnails (16:9, exported at 1280×720 under 2 MB), Shorts covers (9:16), and square (1:1) and portrait (4:5) social posts.
- Free without an account: four AI thumbnail concepts per video on the home page, and the on-device free tools listed below. The AI writers (title and description generators) and the AI rating need a free account with a confirmed email.
- Free account: 3 image credits once the email address is confirmed (by link or 6-digit code), given once per email inbox. No card required. Free images download without a watermark.
- Paid plans (prices in US dollars, cancel any time): Creator $15/month for 120 credits a month (about $0.125 per image), or $144/year ($12/month) with all 1,440 credits delivered up front ($0.10 per image); Pro $35/month for 400 credits a month (about $0.09 per image), or $336/year ($28/month) with all 4,800 credits up front ($0.07 per image). Yearly billing is 20% off.
- Credit pack: 30 credits for $9, a one-time payment with no subscription.
- Credits never expire, including after a plan is cancelled.
- Money-back guarantee: a first payment (plan or pack) is refunded in full on request within 14 days, if fewer than 20 credits were used since.
- Prices are in US dollars, and the price shown is the price paid: no VAT or sales tax is added at checkout.
- One credit makes one AI image or one AI edit, or tests one version in the click test. Concepts, titles, descriptions and the editor are free; the AI score is free up to 5 new scores a day (30 on Creator and Pro; scoring the same image again doesn't count). Failed images are refunded automatically, and identical requests made twice within two minutes are charged once.
- Models: images are generated with Google's Gemini image model; concepts, titles, descriptions, scoring and moderation use Mistral AI models.
- Several images per click (2–4 takes, or one per style) are part of the paid plans; the free plan makes one at a time.
- Headline text, the user's choice per image: (1) painted by the image model in one of several text looks, then read back by a vision model to check every letter, with a one-click fix if it is wrong; or (2) no text in the image, with the headline typeset in the editor as a layer that can be changed for free.
- Editor (in the browser): text, shape and image layers, 13 fonts, 12 text presets, outline, 3D, glow and gradient text, background removal on the device, outline and glow around the person, text behind the person, YouTube's timestamp safe zone, a live feed preview, undo/redo and drafts.
- AI features: a persona from 1–4 photos of your face, an expression changer (12 expressions), reaction face packs, edits by instruction, at a spot you click or inside an area you paint (the rest of the picture stays exactly as it was), recreating the style of a reference thumbnail (its layout, colours and lighting, never its people, logos or words), a versions strip, 10 named layouts, a faceless option, script or transcript input, and "apply the score's fixes".
- Click test: the creator's thumbnail and title among 2–7 competing YouTube videos (from a search or pasted links); a vision model plays a panel of 100 viewers and estimates each video's share of the clicks, for up to 3 versions. It is an AI estimate of the packaging (thumbnail and title, every channel treated as equally unknown), not YouTube data or a CTR. In the editor's feed preview and on the free preview tool; part of the Creator and Pro plans, 1 credit per version tested (the same test again is free, a failed one refunded).
- AI score: 0–100 from six pillars (clarity, emotion, contrast, text, curiosity, title fit), each judged on a checklist of concrete questions, with fixes; the score is kept with each version of a design, and projects made from a YouTube link get a before/after against the video's current thumbnail.
- Privacy: designs are private to the account; no cookies, no third-party analytics or advertising trackers; no newsletter without consent; an optional AI-content label (IPTC/XMP) for downloads, off by default (with it off, raw image downloads carry no metadata).
- API: a REST API with API keys, using the account's normal credits (see the API docs below).
- Not offered: video file upload, YouTube channel connection or upload, team seats, webhooks. "Autopilot" (connect a YouTube channel; each new upload gets thumbnails made, scored, improved and click-tested, and the winner set on the video) is planned with no date; anyone can join its waitlist from the home page (it takes a free account) or in the studio.
